Matthew Cain

    Matthew is a specialist UK tax lawyer who lends his expertise to a wide range of individuals and financial institutions.

    Matthew’s primary focus is the structuring of private wealth through trusts, companies, life assurance policies, collective investment vehicles and hybrid entities. Matthew advises individuals, trustees, life companies, private banks and investment businesses. His work often involves an international element.

    Recognised as a leading UK tax lawyer, Matthew has been at the forefront of innovation for a number of years, particularly in the life assurance sector.

    Where required, Matthew assists clients with enquiries from HMRC, and is frequently involved in HMRC and Treasury consultation processes on tax matters.

    Career

    Matthew joined Wiggin Osborne Fullerlove (then Wiggin & Co) in 1999, becoming a partner in 2001.

    Prior to this, Matthew had trained at Radcliffes & Co from 1993 to 1995 before working for Wilde Sapte (now Dentons) from 1995 to 1997. In 1997, Matthew joined Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, where he worked until 1999, acting principally for structured finance and asset finance groups of investment banks based in London, New York, Hong Kong and Sydney.
